The Secrets Tips You Need to Know to Earn Money through Affiliate Programs

Many people sign up to an affiliate program as they think it will be an easy way to make some extra cash. There are generally two reasons people promote a product.

One reason is that they have used the product they are promoting themselves, and because they like it they want to promote it to others, and hey some extra cash will come in handy. The second reason is that they have heard affiliate programs are a simple way to make a living from home, so they have selected a product to promote.

Whichever is the case, without some training on affiliate marketing, there are many circumstances that will stop them affiliates being successful. Many of these circumstances can be easily overcome, but as most affiliates won’t even be aware that they exist, they will be unaware of why they are unsuccessful so won’t be able to remedy the situation.

So below are three top tips for improving your affiliate marketing activities:

Tip 1 - Register and use your own domain name rather than using the link you’ve been provided. Reason 1 - If you are trying to advertise your affiliate product online, many search engines can tell an affiliate website link and won’t promote them, even when it’s paid advertising. Reason 2 – If you are promoting your product to someone who knows about affiliate programs, they will be able to tell it is an affiliate program. If they are smart, they will find the affiliate program, join it and then buy the product from themselves.

Tip 2 – Send people to a ‘doorway or squeeze’ page which has a link to a sign up page, rather than sending them direct to the sign up page. Reason 1 - Similar to above, many search engines don’t like sites that are simply sign up pages so they won’t promote you or make it easy for your page to be found in searches. A doorway or squeeze page is an intermediate page which can be a ‘review’ of the product, and it is seen to provide some value or content and will be easier to promote. Reason 2 – Again, many free sites which you might be encouraged to use by the affiliate provider, such as yahoo answers, other forums or even free community advertising sites, don’t like blatant product promotions so they don’t allow links in your post or signature which go to a sign-up page for an affiliate program. Therefore, a doorway page can get around these rules.

Tip 3 – Pick the right affiliate program to promote. Reason 1 – Ok this sounds basic, but there are some keys things to look out for. Make sure the sales page doesn’t have a link or info about becoming an affiliate on it, as a lot of them do, and you won’t earn anything if someone you sent to the page sees the link and becomes an affiliate instead of buying the product from you. Reason 2 – Check out the sales page and make sure it looks good. I’ve seen some terrible sales pages and I’d be surprised if anyone bought the product.
